In today’s text, Carol Steinert spoke about the reception of K-Pop in Brazil. Come check it out!
K-Pop in Brazil has gained more and more space! The fans move the social networks a lot and are present in the shows that the Korean groups do here! It seems that the Hallyu wave is really taking over the country and infecting more and more people! In today’s text, Carol Steinert talks a little about the hit Gangman Style and the reaction and reception of the Brazilian public to pop artists from South Korea! Come check it out!
Well, guys, as you saw in the first text for todateen, K-Pop is much more than some Koreans dancing, right? So, I would like to tell you a little bit about how the Hallyu wave is reaching oceans away and reaching us, here in Brazil.
Since the launch of the mega hit ‘Gangnam Style’ in July 2012, radio programs, TV, youtubers, and various media have used and abused the lively and fun ‘Gangnam style’ music of singer YG Company’s Psy. This is also the company of artists like BIGBANG, iKON and rapper CL, who performed at the close of the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, along with the SM Entertainment group, EXO.
After Psy’s success in Brazil, several groups began to come to receive some of the Brazilian heat, as well as BTS. This group has won several awards worldwide, including Top Social Artist by Billboard in 2017, where they performed with the song DNA. Besides them, 24K, K.A.R.D, B.I.G, MASC, Boyfriend, VAV, Dreamcatcher, SHINee, MBLAQ, B.A.P, Infinite, A.C.E, and MVP have also been to Brazil! Not to mention BLANC7, which was here twice only in 2017!
Despite the high growth in recent years, it is not today that Brazil shows great interest in this Hallyu wave. Through the great movement in social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and, mainly, Twitter, fans create hashtags, events, groups and even joint efforts of likes and views, representing the country and demonstrating that fan love can cross any distance that need to be faced to meet the k-idols so loved by kpoppers!
Stay tuned that in the next text of the blog I will talk a little more about how a K-Pop show, a fansign and a fanmeeting work for you who have not yet had the opportunity to be in one!
